Our Commitment to Security: Enhancing Protection for Your Business
August 26, 2024
Security is not just a priority—it's a necessity. At United TranzActions, we understand the critical importance of safeguarding your business and customer data. As part of our ongoing commitment to security, we have implemented several key measures to protect against potential threats and ensure the highest level of trust in our services. Here’s an overview of what we've done to enhance your security and combat data breaches.
Web Application Firewall (WAF): Strengthening the First Line of Defense
One of our major enhancements is the implementation of a Web Application Firewall (WAF). The WAF adds an extra layer of protection, ensuring that only legitimate traffic is allowed into the UTA network. By filtering out potentially harmful requests, the WAF helps to prevent unauthorized access and cyberattacks, aligning our systems with the latest industry standards. This proactive step significantly reduces the risk of data breaches, protecting your sensitive information and financial transactions.
For our integrated merchants, we have enabled the WAF in our staging environment, allowing you to perform test payments in your sandbox account to ensure a seamless and secure connection. This step helps identify and resolve any potential security issues before going live, giving you peace of mind knowing your integration is secure. If you need access to a sandbox environment, our support team is ready to assist.
To further bolster security, we phased out support for non-secure cipher suites and continuing support for the most secure encryption methods available. This change ensures that all communications between your systems and ours are protected with the highest level of encryption, making it extremely difficult for cybercriminals to intercept or tamper with your data.
We are now supporting the latest versions of TLS (Transport Layer Security) protocols, including TLS 1.3 and TLS 1.2, which are recognized for their robustness in protecting data in transit. These protocols utilize advanced encryption algorithms, ensuring that your transactions are secure by default.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Doubling Down on Login Security
We recognize that strong authentication practices are crucial in preventing unauthorized access. That’s why we've introduced Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) as a standard security measure when you log in to UTA's web application. MFA requires not only your usual login credentials but also a secondary verification step—a One-Time Passcode (OTP) sent to your registered email address. This additional layer of security ensures that even if your login credentials are compromised, unauthorized users cannot access your account.
reCaptcha: Blocking Bots, Reducing Fraud
In addition to these measures, we've integrated reCaptcha into our online bill pay platform. reCaptcha is designed to distinguish between human users and automated bots, blocking malicious software from engaging in fraudulent activities. By implementing reCaptcha, we reduce the risk of fraud and protect your business from automated threats that could compromise your data and financial security.
This security feature not only protects your online portal but also builds trust with your customers by demonstrating your commitment to their safety. When customers see that you've taken steps to secure their transactions, it enhances their confidence in your services.
Putting Compliance at the Core of Our Solutions
Our adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements is at the core of our commitment to safeguarding sensitive data. Our solutions undergo yearly audits and assessments to ensure compliance with banking and payment industry regulations, including PCI (Payment Card Industry) standards, SAE SOC (Service Organization Control) reports, FTC (Federal Trade Commission) guidelines, and NACHA (National Automated Clearing House Association) rules. By aligning with these frameworks, we guarantee that our practices not only meet but exceed the security expectations for protecting sensitive information, ensuring both peace of mind and trust. Feel free to contact your Relationship Manager for more information about our compliance initiatives.
Our Ongoing Commitment
At UTA, security is not a one-time effort but an ongoing commitment. We continuously assess and update our security protocols to stay ahead of emerging threats. Our goal is to provide you with a secure environment where you can conduct your business with confidence, knowing that data is protected by industry-leading security measures.
Our internal security, development and IT teams play a critical role in maintaining a robust defense against potential threats by adhering to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) guidelines and employing secure coding practices throughout the development process. This ensures that all our applications are built with security as a core focus, minimizing vulnerabilities from the ground up. Additionally, we leverage a 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) to monitor for potential threats in real-time, alongside a Network Operations Center (NOC) that provides continuous workstation and server endpoint protection. Together, these teams work tirelessly to identify, mitigate, and respond to risks, ensuring the highest levels of data integrity and security.
If you have any questions about our security measures or need assistance with any of the changes we've implemented, please don’t hesitate to contact our support team. We're here to help you navigate these updates and ensure that your business remains secure.
